Pepperoni Deep Dish Pizzas

Pepperoni Deep Dish Pizzas

I saw this recipe first on pinterest and decided to try my own versions.
Seriously folks, the possibilities are endless with these things. Canadian bacon and pineapple, sausage, or even using alfredo sauce and making a white pizza roll. I’m going to have to try that!

These would make great party treats. If you have older kids I think they would have a blast making their own pizzas! I think they are a MUST for the next super bowl party.
I used my favorite pizza dough recipe to make these rolls and they turned out beautifully in just over an hour, start to finish. You could also make the dough ahead of time and freeze it, which is what I do often!
Make these this weekend!

Pepperoni Deep Dish Pizzas

Pepperoni Deep Dish Pizzas

makes about 20 rolls
Ingredients:

  • one batch the best pizza dough
  • 1 bag mozzarella cheese
  • 1 can pizza sauce
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 T butter, soft
  • Parmesan
  • Oregano
  • 1 cup chopped pepperoni

Ok…any additional toppings you like! Try goat cheese crumbled, feta cheese, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, olives, spinach, ricotta cheese, sausage or diced jalapenos.
Directions:

Preheat oven to 425.
Roll out pizza dough to a large rectangle. Cut into strips and then those strips into six inch squares.
Here are two ways you choose which is easier.

A– make dumplings, make a hole with your finger, press making space inside the ball and fill with cheese, pepperoni and sauce. (I do it that way) This look more round and pretty neat. Sprinkle parmesan cheese and oregano.
Place balls on a parchment paper lined sheet tray and bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
B- Fill squares with about two teaspoons of sauce and a sprinkle of cheese and pepperoni.
Pinch sides of squares together and seal well to form balls.
Place balls on a parchment paper lined sheet tray and bake for 15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Tip: You can also, while rolls are making, mash together the soft butter and garlic. Brush on rolls immediately as they come out of the oven and then grate on Parmesan cheese.
Time: 30 minutes (not including time to make dough)
Serve with additional sauce on the side for dipping.
